What Students Receive

  • Students will learn the fundamental and specialized skills necessary to land a job or advance in the booming field of data analytics, including Python, JavaScript, Advanced Excel, and SQL Databases.
  • By the time students complete the program, they will have the ability to conduct robust analytics: Employ statistical analysis to model, predict, and forecast trends, expertly build VBA scripts in Excel to automate tedious manual processes, utilize real-world data sources to showcase social, financial, and political phenomena, and more.

When does the program start?

Class starts March 2, 2020 on the St. Paul campus.

Tuesday/Thursday 6:30 – 9:30 p.m.

Saturday 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.

Can I keep working while studying the University of Minnesota Data Visualization and Analytics Boot Camp?

Yes. The program was designed for working professionals who are seeking to advance their current careers or change paths.

How long does it take to complete the program?

The program is part-time. Students can complete it in six months
(24 weeks).

Do you provide career planning support?

Yes. We offer all of our students career support and coaching as well as resume and portfolio support, interview preparation, and experiential learning opportunities.

Do I need to have previous experience in programming or data analytics before applying?

No programming experience is required, however it is recommended that applicants hold a Bachelor’s Degree or have at least two years of experience in business, management, finance, statistics, or a related field.

Is there an application process? How do I get started?

The Data Visualization and Analytics Boot Camp has an application process and is not open enrollment. Once a prospective student fills out the form or calls our admissions department, they will go through an initial phone interview with an advisor. Applicants who are recommended to move forward will then take a critical thinking and problem-solving coding test. Those who pass the academic test will have a final interview with our academic department to determine if they are accepted into the program.

What sets your boot camp apart from others I can join in St. Paul or elsewhere?

We offer a part-time program that allows working professionals to study data visualization and analytics without leaving their current job.

Students benefit from a robust set of professional development services to prepare them for success as they work to advance or change careers.
